THFC computers donated to Malawi schools
It is with great pleasure that THFC has donated PCs, servers and networking equipment to The Turing Trust. The donated equipment will be sent to Malawi to help students learn IT.
After THFC moved to larger office space in the spring, the team were keen to ensure any IT equipment no longer needed was reused in a sustainable way, consistent with the organisation’s ethics. The donation to The Turing Trust will allow 342 students in Malawi to learn valuable IT skills and equip them for the future. By reusing, rather than recycling this equipment, the environmental impact is to offset 5 tonnes of carbon emission, equivalent to planting 13 trees. The energy savings created would power a UK home for a year.

The Turing Trust’s founder, James Turing, said “I was delighted to work with the team at the Housing Finance Corporation and receive their donation of IT equipment. Their approach to reusing excess computers means that hundreds of students will benefit from enhanced educational opportunities, and their support to cover the collection costs means we’ll be able to invest in training so that the teachers can truly make the most of these PCs.
